CIT at the Industrialists’ Meeting with the Minister

The Association of Lebanese Industrialists (ALI) coordinated an industrialists’ meeting with the Minister of Industry H.E. Mr. Vreij Sabounjian on the 17th of September 2012 at Le Royal Hotel. The meeting commenced with the CITELCIM Director Mr. Naji Abi Zeid, highlighting the progress of the Innovation Voucher Project and other activities of the CIT. He also spoke of ELCIMs various services, ranging from technical assistance to training for SMEs. Finally he shed the light on ELCIM’s upcoming cooperation with the Makhzoumy Foundation and the American University of Beirut on the topic of Corporate Governance.

A brief introduction on the Lebanese Mediation Center was also done followed by the launch of a campaign to promote Lebanese industry. Under the slogan Your Industry Your Identity: Buy Lebanese [products], the campaign intends to bolster the image of Lebanese products both at home and abroad. Mr. Nehmat Frem, head of the Lebanese Industrialists Association and a key figure behind the campaign, said the project would feature television and billboard adverts.

H.E. Mr. Sabounjian called on Lebanese industrialists to explore new markets to offset the impact of an anticipated economic recession, reassuring his believe in the abilities and capacities of the Lebanese economy. After which, an open discussion was held between the Minister and the industrialists were they raised their concerns and spoke of issues that need to be solved.
